Training Requirements

Utah’s Department of Child & Family Services (DCFS) has the responsibility to identify homes where they might place children with specific behavioral challenges. Currently licensed foster/adoptive families wishing to work with these children will need a referral from their child’s caseworker or their resource family consultant (RFC) to be eligible.

Foundations for Youth (FFY)

FFY is a sixteen-hour course designed to supplement pre-service classes and focuses on relationship building, core motivations of children in trauma, Ansell Casey Assessments, and other applicable topics. FFY is a regular training series hosted throughout the state and taught by Utah Foster Care’s team of trainers.
