In October, I was able to launch my first in-service class via live webinar, as we at Utah Foster Care explore new and innovative ways to provide training for our foster and adoptive parents.
In many ways, it is interesting that we are somewhat “behind the curve” in our use of technology. Yet at the same time, based on the inherent difficulties implementing such procedures, it’s not surprising.
We now have several archived webinars that foster parents can access to get their in-service training hours at https://utahfostercare.org/webinars/.
We are still working out the glitches, but we hope this new tool will inevitably assist us with efforts to provide the services our families need to attain their training hours.
We are committed to continuing this project in order to streamline the process, hopefully making it as user-friendly as possible. I believe we will be able to make it more interactive, including both video and voice access so that each participant can not only view the presenter, but interact with other participants as well.

Once you have listened to a webinar, please send an e-mail to your region trainer stating the Title of the Webinar, the Presenter, the date and time you listened, as well as three points you took away from the training that you intend to use with children in your home. This will guarantee that you will receive the appropriate credit for renewal hours for licensing.
We hope you’ll join us in this new endeavor! We are excited to offer these new webinars to make it easier for families to obtain training hours! We will be offering experts speaking on timely subjects that influence the lives of children.
