Aspen Grove 2024

The Perfect Fall Getaway

Crisp cool air in the mountains. Fall colors exploding on every tree. Kids running wild and foster parents getting a much-needed break. The perfect start for a foster family getaway.

Super Car Ron’s Generous Donation

Last year Super Car Ron and his incredible car community raised $80,000 to sponsor a foster family retreat up at Aspen Grove. Over 200 kids and parents from across the state of Utah gathered at the beautiful BYU Aspen Grove near Sundance this past weekend. The mountains were in peak fall foliage making it an extra special experience for all. The lodging, food, activities, training, and fun was all provided to foster families at no charge thanks to this generous donation. Foster families, large and small, were given a reprieve from their everyday chaos to enjoy a beautiful weekend together. Aspen Grove provided activities for every age. From a giant sand box and playground to mini golf, to gaga ball, to a ropes course. There was no shortage of fun!

Family Fun

Every family had the opportunity to play team building games together to strengthen their relationships. The giggles and excitement were everywhere. Foster parents were each given a few hours break where volunteers took the kids around to various activities so the parents could participate in group TBRI trainings. Raising kids from hard places requires extra parenting skills and training. This was the perfect time to catch up on the much-needed reminders. Each night there was different entertainment provided at the outdoor amphitheater in the cool mountain air. A magician the first night and a foster family lip sync battle the second. The kids all eagerly raised their hands every time there was an opportunity to go on stage as the magician’s helper. The treats never ran low with ice buckets filled with a variety of sodas and cookies and rice krispy treats constantly being replenished. Each family had their own space to wind down in and stay for the weekend. Every meal was provided, and no dishes had to be washed for a whole 72 hours. If you have seen the size of some foster families, this alone is worth every penny!

A Heartfelt Thank You

The best part of all was seeing kids become friends with each other. Seeing old friends from past events and making new friends at this event. All the kids were in a safe place with plenty of room to run and activities to keep them engaged. Many parents enjoyed watching their kids play while chatting amongst themselves. Sharing the highs and lows of what it feels like to be a foster parent. Finding common ground that only another foster parent can truly understand. It is hard to put into words how needed events like this are for foster families. Being a foster family and taking kids with trauma into your home for an uncertain amount of time takes a toll. When community members step up and provide incredible experiences like this one it truly provides a reprieve that cannot be found anywhere else. Thank you, Super Car Ron and your amazing car community. This weekend meant more and did more for foster families than words can ever express.
