We spend a lot of our time at Utah Foster Care knocking down the myths about kids in foster care and about the families who foster. Among those myths are 1) foster parents do it for the money, 2) horrible things happen to a child when they are placed in a foster home, and 3) if you foster kids, they may burn down your house.
Many of these myths are perpetuated by stories in the national media. The foster parent who wrote this article helps us tear down the mountain of myths.

Day after day, I see our Utah foster families making sacrifices, going through ups and downs, and generally giving their hearts to help children in foster care. I urge you to get to know them yourself. Get the facts about foster care before jumping to conclusions. And find a way to help.
