Symposium 2014: Brainstorm

By January 21, 2014July 18th, 2017General, Parent-focused

Ever wonder if you’ll survive your teenagers? Ever wonder if they’ll survive you? This and other burning questions will be answered at Utah Foster Care’s 5th Annual Symposium in April. This year, our annual Symposium is a two-day event featuring two outstanding speakers.

Day One: Wednesday, April 2nd– 1:00pm – 4:15pm

Dr Laura Bennett-Murphy, PhD will share her insight and methods regarding children who have faced tremendous odds in their lifetime and have been able to overcome them with the support and love of those caring for them. If you’ve experienced Dr Bennett-Murphy’s past presentations, you know that she believes support and love also require hard work, skills and desire. Her years of experience with children in chaotic and traumatic circumstances have led her to be one of the foremost advocates for children.

Day Two: Thursday, April 3rd– 9:00am – 4:15pm

We have the distinct pleasure of a return appearance by Daniel J Siegel, MD, as he tours the country discussing his newest book, “Brainstorm”.

Last year, Dr Siegel gave us hope and inspiration as we explored the “Whole-Brain Child”. This year he’ll focus on the teen-age brain (as well as the teen-ager!) and help us all gain a better understanding of adolescent behavior. Adding to that, he’ll give us new tools to help our relationships grow and flourish with these teens in our care.

Our annual event will again take place at the beautiful Zermatt Resort & Inn, amid the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. Please note the ticket price does not include accommodations. Register at ufcsymposium.eventbrite.com.

Relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and get re-charged for the day-to-day challenges we all face. This promises to be our best year ever and we look forward to seeing you all there!
