Spanish Oaks Elementary Kids Raise $$

By December 18, 2015July 18th, 2017Donor-focused, General

I just had the opportunity to represent the best of what we do. I went to Spanish Oaks Elementary to collect a donation. Two 4th grade classes chose to have a read-a-thon and gather monies towards every minute they read.

Their goal was $450.00 per class, a phenomenal goal for 9 year olds. They were beaming and darling and I could hardly contain my own emotional joy at their excitement. Then, they brought out the big check with the numbers covered and did the big reveal. TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN DOLLARS!!

Children-little, highly energetic and bright-children did this . I started sweating profusely from my eyes. It was extraordinary and beautiful. Two children in one class are adopted from foster care or in a foster home. I can’t  tell you how grateful I was to be there to applaud them to tell them to stand up and give themselves a standing ovation. My heart grew ten sizes today!!
