Position Summary
The Development Director leads Utah Foster Care’s fundraising strategy and philanthropic efforts to ensure long-term financial sustainability. This position is responsible for growing and diversifying revenue through major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, annual giving, special events, endowment development, and donor stewardship. Working closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and community partners, the Director advances the organization’s mission by building meaningful relationships that inspire generosity and support for Utah’s children and foster families.
Essential Responsibilities
Fundraising Leadership
- Develop and implement the annual fundraising strategy and budget.
- Lead major gifts, grants, annual giving, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, special events, planned giving, and endowment efforts.
- Expand and diversify funding sources while meeting annual fundraising goals.
- Monitor fundraising performance and recommend strategic improvements.
Donor & Community Engagement
- Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and community leaders.
- Oversee donor recognition, appreciation, and stewardship activities.
- Represent Utah Foster Care in the community through networking and partnership development.
Board & Communications
- Support the CEO and Board in fundraising initiatives and Community Development Committee activities.
- Collaborate with the Communications team on donor newsletters, fundraising campaigns, impact reporting, and community engagement efforts.
Leadership & Operations
- Supervise Development Department staff and volunteers.
- Utilize Neon CRM to manage donor relationships, reporting, and fundraising metrics.
- Ensure sound financial stewardship, accurate reporting, and compliance with donor intent.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of nonprofit fundraising or development leadership.
- Demonstrated success securing major gifts, grants, and corporate partnerships.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Experience with donor CRM systems.
Preferred
- Experience in nonprofit leadership, child welfare, or human services.
