Foster parents open their homes to children who need connections with caring adults. The relationships established during this time are significant and meaningful. When children return home following a placement in foster care, foster parents can experience a multitude of feelings—sadness, anger, hurt, loneliness and more. In addition, the stressors of caring for children presenting with difficult emotions and behaviors can become overwhelming at times. Foster parents are also required to help schedule visits, establish mental & physical health appointments, attend court and sometimes do not feel enough support is available to assist with these efforts.
Utah Foster Care offers clinical intervention, both individual and group services, to help foster parents with the demands identified above. Each region currently has a clinical staff member to provide services as needed while regularly scheduled support groups are formed.
