SLV Region Mentor Spotlight

I really, really like helping current foster parents figure out how to be the best they can be in the foster-parenting-trenches. It can be SO hard, and I really want my mentee/friends to feel like I have their backs. I have been there and really understand the impossible-to-describe moments – like when your kiddo has a great day in school – to a frustrating court date. I have been with Michelle since the start of the program and have mentored more than a dozen families. She is a great support for the mentors, who can, in turn, support their placements. We have been fostering/mentoring for 14 years. And that is a lot of ups and downs! I really, really enjoy mentoring – no one gets it like someone who has been there. As I tell my mentor families, you never know what good you are doing – and how your efforts will one day make the world a little better for this child. I love baking, even if I have celiac disease – it just makes it more challenging! I also enjoy any kind of book, including cookbooks! I play the organ, and am working on mastering the pedals. I teach communications part time at SLCC. We have three (adopted) kiddos and an adorable dog.
