A Magical Night in Price

Utah Foster Care held a special event for foster kids and families in the area, inviting children to a night filled with fun and magic to bring the Christmas spirit and remind them that they are loved and not forgotten. 48 children from local foster families gathered at Ascension St. Matthew’s to enjoy a meal provided by Juniper Kitchen. Following the dinner, everyone was ushered into a magic show, performed by Mike Hamilton. “My heart really went out to kids at the holidays who were removed from homes, displaced, taken from their families and put into foster care,” Hamilton explained. He frequently works with the Division of Child and Family Services and sees firsthand the difficulty that many children go through and the loneliness they feel during the Christmas season. Because of this, he created “A Magical Night for Kids Who Have Not Been Forgotten.” After this magic show, kids got to eat cake provided by Helper’s Utah Power Credit Union and meet Santa Claus, who appeared from a magical illusion. Following that, children were surprised to find themselves in a room full of “Build-A-Buddy” machines, where they got to pick out an animal and stuff it with fluff and love on the spot. They also got to pick out outfits for their new stuffed animal, much of which was sponsored by the Kiwanis of Price and Joey Carlson from the RCG Law Group. But children weren’t the only ones who benefitted that night. Hamilton has a partnership with Home Depot, and 200 totes filled with household items and cleaning supplies were donated to be dispersed throughout the state. 10 families in Price received a tote, which is valued at $300 each.
